12 Halloween Goodies… That Aren’t Candy

With food and dye allergies, medical conditions such as celiac, diabetes and lactose intolerance to name a few, giving out candy to trick or treaters can actually alienate some of the cute little faces that come to your door.

Instead of leaving your porch light off, here are a few ideas for goodies you can hand out that aren’t candy:

  1. Coloring/activity books
  2. Stickers (fuzzy or sparkly ones are bonus points)
  3. Colorful kids sunglasses
  4. Cute erasers
  5. Bouncy balls
  6. Glow-in-the-dark toys, stickers, necklaces…. anything
  7. Puzzles
  8. Bubbles
  9. Plush toys
  10. Small slinky-style toys
  11. Little cars or airplanes
  12. Mini rubber ducks

You can find Halloween or fall themed versions of many of these items as well, retailers like Amazon and Oriental Trading Company offer some great non-candy Halloween goodies.

Have you heard of the Teal Pumpkin Project?

It’s specifically for food allergy awareness, but it’s also great for those who can’t or shouldn’t have the candy for other reasons.

If you’re looking for some more ideas on non-food treats, check out their list here.

Do you give out non-food goodies for trick-or-treat? If so, what do you give out?

I started writing this post and then discovered the Teal Pumpkin Project, no one asked me to write about it. Some links in this post are affiliate links.
