Golf Shoes and Other Things {Weekend Wrap Up}

Some folks have today off for Martin Luther King Jr. Day… I am not one of those folks. I’m spending today in the office getting work done and receiving a lot of out of office messages. However, my Monday got off on the right foot, hopefully your did too!

Thursday night, I met up with my friend Brooke to try out Angelo’s in Lakewood, they were voted Best Pizza in Cleveland. It was good pizza, but I’m not sure it’s the best in Cleveland, I guess I’ll have to try some more. I reluctantly turned down an invitation to go salsa dancing afterward because I had an earlier day on Friday than usual, which involved spending the day in Pittsburgh at a client’s office.

This weekend was my husband’s annual trip to the North American International Auto Show in Detroit with a couple of his guy friends. A lot of people don’t understand going to an auto show if you aren’t in the market for a new car, but these guys have turned checking out the latest models into a tradition, and don’t worry Brad’s still going to the Cleveland Auto Show so that he can drive the cars. If you enjoy cars and like seeing what’s new, it makes sense to go. Brad even brought me back a new Chevy Volt!

These Boots Are Made for Singin’

Okay, so I probably butchered the titles of two songs with that blog post title. But let’s move right along… To another boot refashion! Continue reading

The Knee Boot’s Connected to the Ankle Boot {Refashion}

I got a really cute pair of knee-high boots many years ago and kind of wore out the tops of them, the bottoms were fine though. I got a replacement pair on a great deal and planned on just pitching the old ones… but never did.

Old & New

When browsing Pinterest, I stumbled upon this pin and it reminded me of  the boots. With a boot on, I decided how tall I wanted my new ankle boots to be then marked a bit above it. With the zipper unzipped I cut the boot off where I had marked. I did the same thing with the other boot. Continue reading

Baring Arms Dress

I got this short sleeve, blue ruffle dress new for a whopping $8 on clearance at Target to wear for Easter. I wore it on Easter, neglected to get a picture and wasn’t thrilled. The sleeves were just okay and didn’t quite feel like they fit quite right. There wasn’t anything wrong with the dress, just a little eh in the sleeves and possibly overwhelming in the ruffles.

Excuse my headlessness, I was having a bad hair day

I probably can’t call this a refashion and should just say I altered this dress. I decided to make it sleeveless and wear it to the wedding of two college friends last Saturday. My first step was to remove the sleeves at the seam and see how the arm holes would work. Continue reading

Emerald

I absolutely love the color green.

So of course I was psyched to find out that Emerald was the Pantone color of the year… also more psyched to find a new pair of “emerald slippers” to add to my collection of green shoes (my collection also includes emerald flats that were $2 and my dream green wedding shoes).

I was out thrifting with my friend this weekend for a project that I’ll let you in on soon and I stumbled across a bunch of new, tags-still-on Mossimo pumps (sold at Target). The emerald ones called to me… and were in my size for a whopping $6. It was love.

A little research later found that the Mossimo Viveca Blingy Heel in emerald is  on clearance at Target for $23.08 and originally sold for $32.99. I’d say that’s a thrift-score if I ever saw one!

I paired them with black dress pants and a white top at the office on Monday.

I’m linking up with Sharon and Tara to share my awesome find.
