Summer Sandal Steals

At the end of every summer I buy clearance flip flops for the next year. I can be confident that they won’t go out of style because flip flops have been a summer staple since I was a child. Instead of getting the $1-$2 foam and rubber flip flops of years past, I decided to get a couple more quality pairs.

Last night we went to Target to pick up some things for our vacation and I spent quite awhile sifting through the shoe department clearance. I have to say, I have never seen such a disorganized department at Target before! But with the discounted sandals, I can’t complain too much!

I bought three pairs:

The green pair was actually from the kids’ department, but they fit great and were 70% off! The other two pairs came out to about 50% off.

I’m not waiting until next summer to wear them though. I’m packing them in my suitcase and taking them on vacation! I might also be wearing a pair today…. Continue reading

Now She Needs a Name

The Renegade Seamstress put out an alert on a stellar deal on a dress form, today only (August 1st). So I researched it and determined that I was going to get the deal.

I called the store just before taking my lunch and confirmed that they had the form in stock. They had one left.

She’s patiently waiting in the car for the workday to end.

I hurried over and snagged it… or her I should say. The lady behind me at the check-out (in her eighties) stopped me and said, “Don’t forget to name her. My mother was a seamstress and seamstresses name their dress forms.” This intrigued me so I asked what I should name mine. She said, “I don’t know, My mother’s was named Jezebel.”

So now I need to figure out a name for my form. Recommendations? Jezebel is probably not a good plan. I should have asked the lady what her name was. That’d be a nice nod to who told me about it.  Continue reading

Emerald

I absolutely love the color green.

So of course I was psyched to find out that Emerald was the Pantone color of the year… also more psyched to find a new pair of “emerald slippers” to add to my collection of green shoes (my collection also includes emerald flats that were $2 and my dream green wedding shoes).

I was out thrifting with my friend this weekend for a project that I’ll let you in on soon and I stumbled across a bunch of new, tags-still-on Mossimo pumps (sold at Target). The emerald ones called to me… and were in my size for a whopping $6. It was love.

A little research later found that the Mossimo Viveca Blingy Heel in emerald is  on clearance at Target for $23.08 and originally sold for $32.99. I’d say that’s a thrift-score if I ever saw one!

I paired them with black dress pants and a white top at the office on Monday.

I’m linking up with Sharon and Tara to share my awesome find.
