What Would You Do Without Me?

Yesterday was nine years since Brad and I started being humans together.

We did what every couple wants to do on their 9th anniversary of couplehood… we went to an oral and maxillofacial surgeon’s office for a consultation, because I have to have my wisdom teeth out… again.

Remember 3 1/2 years ago when I wrote about my totally not wise teeth? They only took out the bottom ones because the top ones didn’t look problematic. Yet.

While at the consultation Brad jokingly asked, “What would you do without me?”

It caused a good laugh, but the real answer to that question is much more serious. Without Brad, I would do nothing.

Absolutely nothing because I would have died.

I have jokingly said that a pregnancy test saved my life, but the reality is I wouldn’t have gone to the doctor when I did if Brad hadn’t forced me to. It’s because of him that I went, got diagnosed and got the life-saving treatment that I need.

Beyond that, he has woken me up to treat serious hypoglycemia on more than one occasion.

Diabetes and medical things aside, over the last nine years Brad has been my biggest cheerleader, supporter and pain-in-the motivator. He’s comforted me in tough times, inspired me to be more confident, nagged me into doing things I should do but didn’t want to, given me blog fodder and celebrated successes with me.

I’m truly blessed to have him to share my life with.

After the consultation we went home, had breakfast for dinner and started organizing our new basement.

Nine years is just a drop in the bucket.
