My birthday may have fallen on a short day, but the only thing it was short of was time. Thanks to my wonderful husband, I had a fantastic birthday weekend.
I stayed at work late on Friday to say goodbye to the woman who hired me and until Friday was my supervisor. She has moved on to new opportunities and created a few of them for me as well. Brad ended up ordering Chinese for me to pick up on the way home for dinner.
When I got home, there were roses waiting for me and Stella Artois in the fridge. Stella + sesame chicken + the couch made for a nice low-key evening.
Being the horrible birthday girl that I am, I had planned to run errands on Saturday. Brad had other plans. He treated me to breakfast and let me squeeze in on errand before treating me to a surprise afternoon.
I was instructed to dress nicely and wear comfortable shoes. Our afternoon birthday adventure included three official stops and a Starbucks break. Continue reading →
First let me assure you that I am okay! I’ve had a very interested couple of weeks and subscribe to the concept of “Live first, Blog second.” Which means at times I end up posting sporadically and now I’d like to catch you all up.
Brad took me to lunch on Friday since I had the day off. We went to one of the places near his office that he loves, but is only open for lunch on the week days. It was delicious, but I will save that review for later. I took the rest of the day to run some errands, including a thrift store stop to get two new items to refashion.
The rest of the weekend we opted not the leave the house. It snowed a lot and was cold, so why go outside when you can snuggle up with your Valentine and furry critters? We made filet, roasted asparagus and potato rounds for a special Valentine’s dinner, with Oreo truffles for dessert.
Some folks have today off for Martin Luther King Jr. Day… I am not one of those folks. I’m spending today in the office getting work done and receiving a lot of out of office messages. However, my Monday got off on the right foot, hopefully your did too!
Thursday night, I met up with my friend Brooke to try out Angelo’s in Lakewood, they were voted Best Pizza in Cleveland. It was good pizza, but I’m not sure it’s the best in Cleveland, I guess I’ll have to try some more. I reluctantly turned down an invitation to go salsa dancing afterward because I had an earlier day on Friday than usual, which involved spending the day in Pittsburgh at a client’s office.
This weekend was my husband’s annual trip to the North American International Auto Show in Detroit with a couple of his guy friends. A lot of people don’t understand going to an auto show if you aren’t in the market for a new car, but these guys have turned checking out the latest models into a tradition, and don’t worry Brad’s still going to the Cleveland Auto Show so that he can drive the cars. If you enjoy cars and like seeing what’s new, it makes sense to go. Brad even brought me back a new Chevy Volt!
I really shouldn’t call my brother-in-law a “little brother” I should stick with younger. When I first met Brad’s “little brother” he was shorter than me! Since then he’s grown up a lot and is a college guy now (as opposed to the middle school tween who I first met).
Anyway, he came up to visit us this weekend arriving at our house on Friday after leaving work. He beat me there, mostly because I was talking OmniPods and walnuts with a stranger at the grocery store.
My cat looks sad, but I assure you he is not.
Brian got to experience our really exciting, typical Friday night… at home watching a movie. Sometimes weeks just wear you out!
We decided to make pizza and picked a movie to watch. That means, I made pizza and the guys picked the movie.
While we watched Non-Stop, banana nut bread baked to serve as our dessert. Brian quickly made friends with Holmes and Watson when we first adopted them, so it wasn’t a surprise that he never sat alone in a chair.
