Side Table Makeover for Dog Stuff Storage

I was hesitant to feature this project because it’s so similar to the dressers that I redid recently. But why not?!

When you adopt a pet, you adopt the need for a lot of stuff. When we got Stella we had to get a bunch of stuff for her care and keeping. Treats of course, but also nail clippers, a leash, waste bags for walks, grooming wipes, car seat cover, car riding harness and cold-weather gear since the little fur she has is short and she gets very cold, very quickly.

All this stuff needs to live somewhere and for us, it needed to be near the back door. Rather than buying a new table, I grabbed Brad’s old night stand that had been stored in the basement.

Coffee Bean Dress Refashion

I picked up this coffee bean print dress in the same thrift store trip that I picked up the jumpsuit that got new life as a dress last year.

Obviously I took my before pictures before we moved. It had a collar, a couple of awkward front buttons and strings to tie the back.

One of my top three blog posts of all time is What to Wear to a Graduation. In that post I not only shed some light on what I consider to be appropriate attire for graduation ceremonies, I debuted the first maxi dress I bought.

People have said that short women can’t wear maxi dresses. I personally think that’s untrue. I have grown my maxi dress collection since then and have been happy to see these dresses hang around trend wise. Speaking of hanging around… that’s what my first maxi dress was doing. Just hanging it in the closet. I wore it a handful of times, but it seemed too busy or too formal for most of the time. Continue reading

Weekend Wrap Up: Bricklaying, Cleveland Flea & House Update

We had an interesting and fun weekend, it involved bricklaying, food trucks, flea market browsing, upcycled awesomeness and a trip to the house.

Saturday morning started with the Bricklayer 500 regionals at St. Mary’s Cement Terminal. One of my clients was involved with the event. This particular event is a speed bricklaying competition.

The masons competing were all very talented craftsmen. I got to be a little crafty myself and adhered stone on lath. Continue reading
