I’ve been loving dresses more and more the older I’ve gotten and I’ve been in the process of growing up my wardrobe just a bit. It’s hard to find quality, grown up dresses in my size that don’t cost a fortune. I can’t remember where or when I learned about thredUP, but since I browsed their site one time, it started showing up everywhere I looked.

Here’s their brief description:

I decided to look for dresses on their site. I wanted nice, fun dresses that I could wear to work or other events. Here are the two that I found:

Being the savvy shopper that I am, I googled for codes before pressing “Submit Order” and sure enough I found a 20% off code. Shipping was reasonable ($3.99). FedEx Smart Post was not the most intelligent however and my dressed entered and left the state of Ohio twice before coming to Cleveland (they actually came to Cleveland once, then went to New York and had to find their way back to me). Poor things.

Obviously I wore my dresses at the first opportunity!

Dress #1 ($9.58)

Shortly after my polka dot box arrived, my office took a field trip for lunch and I got to wear my Converse dress. Since it was a chilly morning, I put on tights and my favorite boots.

I actually altered this one ever so slightly, it laces up in the back and the strings were suuuuuuper long. I cut a few inches off each string and knotted the ends.

Problem solved.

Dress #2 ($5.60)

Knowing that I’d be attending a fall wedding, I jumped at this red-orange Banana Republic dress. I was nervous about ordering it because of the ruffles and I wasn’t sure on the length. I needn’t have feared. It was perfect!

It paired wonderfully with a brown belt that came with a different dress and an Avon necklace/earring set in green and orange that’s been lonely in my jewelry box for awhile. I was also able to wear it with my two favorite vintage items, my brown vintage pumps and grandma’s ring. Since it was freezing at the reception… the dress also goes well with a duster and under my brown trench coat.
